St. George Clean-up Week

St. George Good Neighbor
Spring Roadside Clean-Up Week
May 1st-8th 2021

The Solid Waste and Recycling Committee will hold a Good Neighbor Spring Clean Up Week, Saturday, May 1st-Saturday, May 8th, 2021. As many of you have noted, our roadsides are trashed! A whole year of waste material has accumulated along Town streets. Since we did not hold a Spring Clean-Up in 2020, we have a double dose of cups, bottles, packaging materials, and unidentified litter in everyone’s front yards.

The Committee is encouraging all residents to clean up rubbish in front of their own homes and if possible, their neighbor’s houses from May 1-8, 2021. We will not be assigning roads nor gathering at the Town Office prior to the Clean Up this year in the interest of safety and social distancing. We will not have anyone clearing trash from the Town line to Route 73 as we have had in previous years so that area should be considered part of the Town road system that needs a good tidying.

The Committee encourages all residents to separate material that appears to be recyclable and along with trash, take it all to the Transfer Station.

We welcome all efforts to keep our roads litter-free.  As noted previously, the Committee thanks Hugh and Betsy Blackmer who singlehandedly pick up trash along St. George streets year around.  Together, let’s keep St. George beautiful!
