Do I need a Building Permit?
- Any type of new construction requires a Building Permit.
It you are expanding your house, shed, porch, deck or any other structure that is on your property, then a permit is required. If you are putting up or building a temporary storage building a permit is required.
If you are fixing or repairing an existing structure and the total cost of the repair is under $10,000, then no permit is required.
Do not forget your plumbing permit. Does your new addition have a bathroom, washing machine or a dishwasher? If it requires a drain to make the waste water disappear it probably requires a permit to make that magic happen. If you have questions call the Town Office or check with your plumber.
