General Assistance

Scope of Services

The State of Maine General Assistance Program is administered by the Town Office and is funded 50% by the State and 50% from local property taxes. The program provides help to eligible individuals who need financial assistance for basic needs such as housing, food, electricity, heat, personal supplies and other items that are considered essential.

In order to receive assistance, applicants must apply at the Town Office, meet eligibility guidelines and follow program rules.

Information concerning requests for assistance is strictly confidential.
