Wanted: plumbers, carpenters, contractors, septic designers, and any other trade professional who might need to pull a permit from the town. Our new(ish) permitting portal has account capabilities, and we'd like to be proactive. We will set you up with an account, so when you're ready to submit a permit you'll be able to log right in to the portal. All you need to do is email your name, business name, phone #, and address to m.wallace@stgeorgemaine.com, and Magan will get you all set up.
Just a reminder the town office is closed today (Wednesday) until 9:30am for a staff meeting.

Here are the meetings scheduled for this week: The Select Board will meet briefly today at 3pm in the town office to sign the warrant; the Conservation Comission will meet Thursday at 4pm. Also remember the Town Office and Transfer Station will be closed Wednesday, New Years Day.
The town office will be closed next week, December 23rd through December 27th. Much of the staff is using vacation time to extend their holiday break. If you need to reach anyone on staff during this time please reach out to Brandon Leppanen, Town Manager at b.leppanen@stgeorgemaine.com or 691-5175. We will reopen on Monday, December 30th.
The transfer station will be closed December 23rd through December 25th and reopen on Thursday December 26th.

Here are the meetings for this upcoming week. Tonight (Monday), the Select Board meets at 6pm (downstairs meeting room), and the Parks & Rec committee meets at 6:30 (upstairs in the "big room"). On Thursday the Conservation Commission meets in the downstairs meeting room at 4pm. Also on Thursday the Cemetery Committee will meet in the upstairs "big room" at 5pm.

"I just bought a brand new car; what do I need to bring to the town office?"
1) The bill of sale. We need this to verify you paid sales tax and title fee. If you did NOT pay these things (if you bought the car out of state, for example), your registration will need to be completed at the Rockland BMV office.
2) The title application. Most of the information we'll need to do the registration is on that document.
3) The Monroney label, or the "window sticker." The Monroney lable has the manufacturer's suggested retail price on it. Your excise tax is based on THAT figure, and NOT what you paid for the vehicle.
If you have plates from another vehicle you'd like to put on your new car, we can (if you paid sales tax and title fee) complete the entire registration at the town office. If you'd like to do that we also need:
4) The old registration that goes with those plates, and...
5) Proof of insurance
The Harbor Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday November 7th has been rescheduled a week out, and will now be held on November 14th.
The planning board meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday November 12th has been canceled.
Starting today (Friday) and on Monday we are in the "special circumstances" voting period. That means in order to vote absentee you must affirm there is a "special circumstance" that prevents you from coming to the polls on November 5th. Those reasons include:
~Unexpected absence from the municipality during the entire time the polls are open on Election Day; or
~Physical Disability; or
~Incapacity or illness that has resulted in the voter being unable to leave home or a treatment facility; or
~Inability to travel to the polls if the voter is a resident of a coastal island ward or precinct.
If you cannot affirm one of those circumstances, we will happily receive your ballot when you come to the town office to vote on Tuesday November 5th.
