Budget Committee

St. George Municipal Budget Update

In December of each year the budget committee sends a required letter to the Select Board discussing considerations the budget committee wants the town manager and Select Board to be aware of as the budget is developed.

Between early January and mid-March the town manager develops his budget, consulting with department heads and others.  The town manager with the budget committee holds several budgeting workshops before presenting the budget to the Select Board for their close review.  Once the Select Board approves the budget with any adjustments they have made, the budget committee makes a final recommendation and both sets of recommendations (Select Board and budget committee) are included in the town warrant for the town's citizens to vote on at town meeting.

All budget committee and Select Board meetings are open to the public, and the public is invited to attend and provide input regarding how taxpayer dollars will be spent at any point during this process.  Ultimately, it is the voters who determine how much will be raised and spent at the annual town meeting.

If you have any questions about the budget process or how to be involved, please reach out to Brandon Leppanen, town manager, at
