Solar Energy

In August 2023, the Resilience Committee hosted a Green Energy Tour during which attendees could visit the transfer station, the library, and various homes that had already adopted solar power, heat pumps, or electric vehicles. Folks were able to hear from their neighbors and from a few solar companies about their real experiences with both the environmental and financial benefits of “going green.”

The Conservation Commission has also engaged with solar power programs and initiatives. This includes a successful effort in 2018 to install a solar array on the roof of the transfer station, which now provides over 90% of the electricity for the Town’s municipal buildings. See more info here.

The Town continues to look for opportunities to expand our solar capacity.
