From the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife:
Due to unexpected events, the inventory for the 2026 Boat Registration, Excise Tax, and Lake & River Protection stickers will be delayed. Currently, the anticipated arrival date at the MDIFW Headquarters in Augusta is December 26, 2025. As soon as the stock is received, we will begin distributing it to all MOSES agents.
The Town of St. George will post here when Maine boat registration stickers arrive in the town office.

It's the last week of the year, the last "here are the weekly meetings" for 2025.
•This afternoon, 3pm, Select Board meeting. (Note the unusual time, please. The only thing on the agenda is to sign the warrant, so there's no need for an evening meeting.)
•Wednesday, town office and xfer station open regular 8-4 hours.
•Thursday, the town office and transfer station will be closed for New Years Day.
•Friday, town office and xfter station open for regular 8-4 hours.

This is one of the most frequent questions we receive at the town office. With Christmas happening this week, the transfer station will offer the following hours:
CLOSED: Wed-Fri, 12/24-12/26.
OPEN: Sat. 12/27.

Town Manager Brandon asked deputy clerks Patty and Bill to put together a fun list of music. He asked us to put together a list of holiday songs that represented each employee here at the town. He didn't want to just ask what each employee's favorite was, but to pick a song that evoked the vibe of the employee. Doing as best they could, with the staff listing on the website, here's the list (with a description of why they picked the song, if there was some reason.)
Brandon: Holly Jolly Christmas (He seems like Burl Ives, no?)
Irene: Silent Night (Incidentally, after the staff received the finished list, Irene told us "Irene is Greek for peace. Very fitting song for my name.")
Bill: Little Drummer Boy (too on the nose?)
Ryan: I Saw Three Ships
Terry: Mele Kalikimaka (on account of his trips to tropical places)
Tara: Jingle Bell Rock (just seemed to fit her)
Ashley: I Want a Hippopotamus (She did admit she likes this one)
Steve: Run Run Rudolph (Does the guy ever slow down!)
Patty: Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree (Apparently a song/dance routine from Girl Scouts)
Magan: You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch (Magan is a big Grinch fan)
Xfer Station Ben: Let It Snow (so he can plow it!)
Xfer Rob: I'll Be Home for Christmas (we understand he likes to spend time w/family)
Xfer Dave: Blue Christmas
Mike Smith: Santa Claus is Comin' to Town (Bruce Springsteen version, even though Mike if from NY and Bruce is NJ, they still have that same accent)
EMS Chief Katie: Christmastime is Here
EMS Dep. Chief Hanna: All I Want for Christmas is You (congrats on her engagement!)
Medic Jim: Feliz Navidad
Medic Chuck: Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer (based on his recent truck/deer experience)
Assessor Jackie: The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)
Island Institute Fellow Erin: I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas (something Texans don't get!)
Hope this gives you a chuckle.

Earlier today I was in a communications seminar and the presenter asked the participants (there were about 75 in this Zoom class) "What is your town's perception of local government?" The image is a screenshot of the most common responses: lazy, overpaid, inefficient, etc. I thought to myself "Wow, I don't think this is how St. George residents feel about their town staff at all!"
Later in the class there was a breakout session: "What would your response be if a staff person's mistake in mixing some floor cleaning chemicals caused an evacuation." My answer was vastly different from the other participants in my session. One of them was a woman from a nearby town. She said to my group "Bill works in St. George, and St. George is the kind of community everybody wishes they had. In St. George, everybody has each other's back."
Thank you for being a great town, St. George. The quality of the citizenry here is top notch, and at least one other town administrator has noticed.
~Office Clerk A
