It's now been over year since we started helping the state roll out new license plates. St. George was assigned certain plate ranges, and we've tried to help with pneumonic devices to help you remember your new plates. We started with KLQ, "the big Kliq, 100,000 watts for St. George." We had a lot of KMQ plates: the cumquat plates! (Or, "kiss me quick" was proposed by one former seaside Britt.) We had the "Keep Maine Vegan" range of KMV plates. Evil Kinevil rep'd the KNV plates, while ZZ Top helps you remember LGG plates with their phrase "She got lgg's, she knows how to use them." Jewish cuisine on license plates? Who doesn’t love latkes? LKA could also be “love keeps alive.” Currently we working on LPK; Patty thinks of it as Love, Peace, and Kindness. Bill is silly and thinks it stands for "large pepperoni kalzone." As you drive around, keep your eyes open for some of these locally issued plates. Feel free to share how you remember YOUR new plate number.

It's Tuesday. And yes, the transfer station is open.
Spring is prime composting season, and the St. George Transfer Station runs a very successful composting program. In fact, the town can sell all the compost that is produced! That finished compost helps offset the costs of running the Transfer Station—and it all starts with something simple: your food scraps. Next time you drop off your trash, take an extra moment to place your food scraps in the compost bin conveniently located right beside it.
Accepted compost items include: • Fruit and vegetable scraps • Coffee grounds • Grass clippings • Leaves and yard debris Items not accepted include meats, oils, dairy products, fish, or shellfish shells. For a full list of compostable materials, visit the compost information page on the town website: https://www.stgeorgemaine.com/page/composting-starts-at-home
