This key was found down at the big ball field. It's now at the town office if it belongs to you.

We've received a report of a new mobile home blocking 131 arount the Beach Point Rd. area in Martinsville. We don't have any good info about much right now, but in the short term consider using Ridge Rd is you need to get in/out of Port Clyde.
The tennis and pickleball courts are in the process of being resurfaced and will be closed through Monday. We expect them to re-open for play Tuesday September 23rd. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Did you know that in 1988 there was a rumor in town that someone was looking to

As of this morning (Monday) the meeting calendar for the town is light this week. On Tuesday the Solid Waste and Recycling Committee meets at 2pm, and that's the only meeting for the week! (Unless something pops up suddenly--and if it does we'll let you know.)
This is Rob. Up at the transfer station they call him "The Operator." When asked to explain that, Transfer Station Manager Ben said "He's an artist with anything machinery." When he's not working Rob likes fishing and dirt biking, and being with his grandkids. He's also fond of coffee, which means he's good people. Next time you're at the transfer station be sure to give Rob a wave.

Here are the upcoming meetings and events for the week: Monday 9/8, Select Board meeting, 6pm; Senior Luncheon, Tuesday, 11:30am.
Edit: the Planning Board meeting originaly scheduled for Tuesday at 7pm has been cancelled.
Yes, it's Monday, Labor Day, and the town office is closed. Still, your humble web admin has made arrangements for the posting of this week's meetings. Tuesday, Emergency Services Committee, 6m; Thursday, Conservation Commission, 4pm; Thursday, Cemetery Committee, 4:30pm. If you would like to attend any of these meetings via Zoom, email your request to webadmin@stgeorgemaine.com. Please include your name, physical address, and what meeting you'd like to attend; we'll reply with the login info.
If you're reading this it's after 4pm on Friday 08/29/2025. The town office will be closed Monday for the Labor Day holiday. (The transfer station will be closed Monday too, just like it is every Monday!) We will both reopen for business on Tuesday September 2nd at 8am.

The town office IS open today. What we're trying to do is not have people park overnight, or use our parking lot for overflow parking for their weekend family reunion, or otherwise jam up the parking lot for non town business. We're trying to keep it open for the lobster stew drive thru on Saturday. If you're coming into the town office for business today (Friday) feel free to park in out lot. Just don't plan to leave your car here while you take your boat out to the island this weekend.

Have your borne witness to burn-outs being done on a town road? Have you been awakened well after sundown by the sound of screaching tires? If so, PLEASE dial 911 and report the incident while it's happening. The Knox County Sheriff's Office informs us that emailing them about the event is NOT sufficient to provide them with a pattern. Instead, only phone calls to 911 can be used to establish a pattern. So please, if you witness this happening, call 911.

The town develops its proposed budget each year between January and March. This is a collaborative process between the Town Manager, the Budget Committee, and the Select Board. Every meeting is posted on the town calendar and open to the public. The town's proposed budget is finalized in the spring and published in the Annual Town Report. The amount the town spends is decided by you, the voters of St. George, at the in-person annual town meeting. Residents are welcome to participate at any stage of this process. Thank you Susan Ellis, Greg Soutiea, Scott Vaitones, and Chris Williamson for serving on this committee.

Did you reserve your vanity plate? Great! Now you've received the plate in the mail, and you're ready to register, yes? BRING THE PLATE WITH YOU! Your friendly St. George clerks are ready to reregister that vehicle for you, but we're required to see the plate. Inside the package is a letter, and the letter says "Bring this letter and plates to your town office." Many people, though, recognize the package as their plates, and they don't even open them so they don't see the letter. So tell your friends, and share this post; if you got a new vanity plate, you're required to show it at the time of renewal.

Here are the upcoming meetings for the week: Monday, Select Board, 6pm; Tuesday, Planning Board, 7pm; Thursday, Appeals Board, 5:30pm. The Select Board and Planning Board will have a Zoom option for remote attendance. Email webadmin@stgeorgemaine.com with your name, address, and which meeting you'd like to attend, and we'll reply with the login info.
Assistant Town Manager Tara Elwell. She's amazing. We are so lucky to have her on staff here at the Town of St. George. This woman can (and does) do everything. Need to know the name of the lady who lived next to ol' man McGreedy? Tara can tell you. Need the lyric for any song between 1971 and 2014? Tara can tell you. Need someone to run voting day without hitches? Tara. Lobster stew that people will LINE UP to eat. That's her. Register your boat? Tara can do it. Heck, Tara could pilot your boat; it wouldn't be the first time. Car registrations? Check. Fry cook? Bartender? Hostess? She kills it. Tara's frickin' awesome, and we love her.
