TUESDAY, AUGUST 23TH: UNION FAIR TRIP. Following the trip to the fair, we will be stopping at Dorman’s on the way home. Departure Times: St. George 9:15, Thomaston 9:40. Leave Union Fair at 1, head to Dormans. Approximate return times: Thomaston 2:15, St. George 2:40. You can reserve a spot on the bus beginning at 8 AM July 12 by calling the St. George Town Office at 372-6363
TENNIS COURTS ARE NOW OPEN FOR PLAY. THERE IS NOW A SIGN UP SHEET AT THE TENNIS COURTS WHERE YOU CAN RESERVE A COURT UP TO 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE COMMUNITY TENNIS SESSIONS AT 8 AM ON WEDNESDAYS AND SATURDAYS AND 2 PM ON SUNDAYS!

Parks & Recreation Committee Information
New Terms beginning September, 2016!
The Parks & Recreation Committee shall oversee all resources,
facilities & programs of a recreational nature, strive to maintain
and improve the physical and mental fitness of the community, and
administer, in cooperation with the Town Manager, the recreational
programs to include all segments of the community on a year round basis.
Past P & R Committee responsibilities have included, but have not been limited to:
Monthly committee meetings with the P & R Director for updates & idea sharing.
Participate in department sponsored events as much a possible (IE; Saturday basketball games, events, fund raisers, etc.)
Assist in event set-up, operations, clean-up & fund raising whenever possible.
Help promote and advertise the department’s events & offerings
Follow the department’s “Mission Statement”, “Core Values” & “Vision Statement”
Respect and adhere to the department’s policies and guidelines.
Promote good sportsmanship, fair play & leadership by example
Assist in recruiting volunteer coaches, umpires, referees, and other helpers
The Parks & Rec. Committee consists of seven voting members and
two or more alternate members that are appointed annually by the Select
The Parks & Rec. Director attends the monthly P & R Committee
meetings to update members on activities and to coordinate efforts to
further the goals of the Committee.
Volunteer applications for the P & R Committee and all
coaching positions are available for printing in the column to the right
St. George Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for scheduling, prepping and maintaining multiple fields, courts, parks and playgrounds for the many spring, summer & fall youth sports activities, teams & leagues.
The P & R department also organizes, oversees & maintains local winter youth basketball teams and leagues from 3rd-6th grade. We host the traditional "Mussel Ridge Hoops Basketball Tournament" for 3rd/4th graders in March as well as offer free basketball & soccer clinics for children in kindergarten, first and second grade.
In addition, the department organizes, oversees and sponsors programs for adults and local senior citizens.
The Parks & Recreation Department's offerings for "St. George Days" include the Marshall Point 5K Lighthouse Loop, The Old Timers Softball Game and the return of the Dunk Tank!
