Highlights

An easy family hike through mixed woods to the shoreline of Meadow Brook with bird viewing areas.

Trail Description

The trail is a loop beginning to the right of the trailhead kiosk, traversing evergreen/deciduous woods and crossing a tributary stream along the way.  The lower portion of the trail traverses closer to Meadow Brook and has two side paths to viewing areas.

Walking, hiking, dogs on leash, birding.

Not Allowed

Mountain bikes, motorized vehicles, camping.

Directions and Parking

From the junction of Route 131 and Route 1 in Thomaston, follow Route 131 approximately 7 miles south and turn right onto the Walston Road.  After 2.6 miles turn right onto Turkey Cove Road and travel 0.5 miles to the Meadow Brook parking lot on the left.  From the intersection of the Walston Road and Route 131 in the village of Tenants Harbor, travel approximately a mile and bear left onto Turkey Cove Road and travel 0.5 miles to the Meadow Brook parking lot on the left.

  • St. George students share stories and learnings highlighting our connections to, and appreciations for, our community of people and places.  Join us to listen to the local history of smelt fishing around the peninsula, and smelt history in Meadow Brook Preserve.  Meadow Brook Preserve and Rainbow Smelt History.

Notes

The Meadow Brook Preserve is a collaboration between the St. George Conservation Commission, the Maine Coast Heritage Trust and the Georges River Land Trust and is maintained by volunteer efforts. The trail is open from sunrise to sunset.  The parking lot and trails were made possible in part by a grant from the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund.
