Plumbing Inspector Contacts Chris Leavitt, Local Plumbing Inspector Cherie Yattaw, Assessing / Planning Secretary Scope of Service I am responsible for issuing plumbing permits and conducting internal and external plumbing inspections. I share an office with the Code Enforcement Officer. When a structure is built or renovated and plumbing is installed or relocated, a permit and inspection are required. Many stores sell fixtures that are not allowed under the Maine State Plumbing Code. Be sure what you are buying and installing is code compliant. Septic systems are another area that requires permits and inspections. This is to assure proper installation of the system. There are two inspections that need to be conducted according to the Subsurface Wastewater Disposal Rules. Septic systems can have a direct affect on water quality if not properly installed. Chris is available to assist you Monday – Friday 8am to 4pm. My door is always open!
