Responsibilities

In pursuance of the resolution adopted at the March 8, 2011 town meeting, the Select Board appointed a Town Education Committee consisting of seven (7) members, one of whom shall be, insofar as is legally permitted, a member of the St George Select Board. The committee shall be responsible for representing the Town in discussions with RSU #13 with respect to the nine (9) recommendations made by the Ad Hoc Education Options Committee and approved at the above mentioned 2011 town meeting. The committee is also charged with continuing the investigation of withdrawal from RSU #13 and submitting a recommendation and plan for withdrawal, if appropriate, to the Select Board prior to the 2012 Town Meeting.

The committee will also work with the Select Board and other town committees as appropriate to implement the following recommendations:

Develop a communication program that educates citizens on the options under consideration;
Define community expectations with respect to education and incorporate them within the Town's Comprehensive Plan; and,
Structure formal relationships with other municipalities within RSU #13 for region-wide review, evaluation and reporting on the activities and performance of RSU #13.
